United Nations International Volunteer Day

Today we celebrate volunteers and thank and acknowledge every single person who collectively make up the global family of volunteers. With the theme for International Volunteer Day "Volunteers build resilient communities" it is timely that two new reports are released today. "Impact of the Aboriginal Volunteer Program on Aboriginal Returned Volunteers 2018" report and "Human Resource Management and Volunteer Management - A shared approach" report.

Volunteering NT - Emergency Volunteers for Emergency Response

Volunteers play an important role natural disasters happen. They provide assistance in emergencies such as cyclones, earthquakes, fires or floods and with so many people wanting to help, volunteering is one way of providing that support. Spontaneous Emergency Volunteers are often available, but unprepared to be easily deployed into response, relief and recovery agencies and emergency management agencies where help is needed the most. A new program managed by Volunteering NT allows Darwin residents to pre-register to assist community organisations and agencies in times such as these.

VNews NT - special edition NT Volunteer of the Year Awards

Winners announced. The top prize in the annual NT Volunteer of the Year Awards has broken tradition with the announcement of two equal winners in the Volunteer of the Year Award. After lengthy deliberations, the judging panel found it impossible to select one winner, instead awarding two winners from the other Central Australia and Top End categories. This deserved recognition goes to Frank Dunstan, St John Ambulance (NT) and Neil Westbury from MJD (Machado-Joseph Disease) Foundation.
