After a challenging year, we hope that organisations are now looking to re-engage with their volunteers. We invite you to contact us to discuss how we can support you. Early insights from the current Volunteering Australia ‘COVID-19 impact on volunteering’ survey reveals many organisations are still operating with limited volunteer capacity. The results indicate that 60% of organisations reported that their volunteer programs are only partially operational and 12% still not operational. Currently 40% of organisations are reporting an increase in demand for services with 53% saying they need more volunteers.

Special days of recognition - last week we wished Happy International Volunteer Managers Day to all of the amazing volunteer managers and leaders. Yesterday during our minute’s silence for Remembrance Day, we commemorated the noble sacrifices of our armed forces - men and women, paid and unpaid, who gave their lives to ensure the things we hold dear as Australians would be with us for future generations. This week we are celebrating NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) which recognises the history, culture and achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Announcing winners in the NT Volunteer of the Year Awards held last week. It is with great pleasure we announce Darwin based retiree and music lover Lyla Wills as the overall winner of the NT Volunteer of the Year Award. Award presentations were held in Alice Springs and Darwin and it was fantastic to see so many people turn out to recognise these wonderful volunteers and organisations. It was lovely to see the camaraderie and the support so kindly offered to communities. To hear the wonderful volunteer stories, and to see them going above and beyond is truly inspirational.
