    VNT National Volunteer Week 2022 Colour Your Community Red media release

    To thank the 70,000 volunteers in the Northern Territory, everyone is invited to join in the celebrations during National Volunteer Week (NVW) from 16-22 May 2022. In its third year, the Colour Your Community Red social media campaign thanks and celebrates all the amazing work that volunteers do in the community.

    Who better than a dedicated and passionate volunteer to take up a new position to help grow, support and celebrate volunteering in South Australia. Media personality Ali Clarke has been appointed the inaugural ambassador of Volunteering SA&NT.

    Year in Review Highlights 2020/21

    Volunteering SA&NT has had a mighty year! Despite COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, we welcomed 88 new members, supported 1255 VIOs and 17,126 volunteers, ran 21 successful programs and contributed to many sector projects.

    It is a very exciting time as we head towards National Volunteer Week (16-23 May 2022), a time when we can all come together to celebrate volunteering. There will events in Alice Springs and Darwin, and for the first time we are pleased to be partnering with NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES) in their WOW (Wear Orange on Wednesday) celebrations in Darwin. Our Colour Your Community Red online campaign will provide everyone the opportunity to celebrate volunteers.

With 2022 also marking our 40th anniversary, this year’s celebrations, including our Annual Parade and Celebration in Victoria Square, is on track to be our biggest and best ever.

    We are talking with volunteer involving organisations to ascertain current issues and concerns. Our Volunteering Matters Forum was held last month with over 80 participants sharing their valuable insights and experiences on the current state of volunteering here in SA. We are now busily collating this feedback and developing learning and development resources to support as many organisations and volunteers as we can.

    A Plea for Volunteers
