Connected Women Project Volunteer - Katherine
Australian Red Cross

- Ongoing role, approx 3 hours per week
- Flexible hours - business hours and after hours
The program
Our Migration Support Programs provide help and support to migrants in transition including refugees, asylum seekers and immigration detainees. We do this through a range of programs that protect and uphold the health, dignity and wellbeing of the people we support. We also provide services to reconnect family members whose loss of contact is caused by international or internal conflict, war and disaster.
Connected Women is a part of the Australian Red Cross' Social Cohesion project, which recognises the barriers that migrants face in their first 5 years of settlement and works towards strengthening the participation of migrants in their communities. In 2017, focus groups were conducted that aimed to understand how potentially isolated migrant women are connected in their communities and provide insights into how to build new connections and strengthen existing relationships. Future work will consider bringing together diverse groups and supporting sustainable, self-directed activities pursued by Connected Women participants.
The opportunity
The Connected Women Project Volunteer supports the coordination of events, the development of the project, monitoring and evaluation activities and key administration tasks related to the Connected Women project. You will work alongside the Social Cohesion Project Officer and a team of staff and volunteers to achieve the goals of the project.
If you are interested in community development, project management and working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, this role will suit you. You should be a confident and flexible organiser and facilitator and have analytical abilities in evaluating project activities.
