Volunteering SA&NT

Volunteering SA&NT manages the registration and referral of spontaneous volunteers for South Australia. When preparing for, and after a disaster is over, volunteers may be required to assist. Volunteering SA&NT is currently working with agencies to ascertain their needs for volunteers.

In the short term volunteers may help with sandbagging, external and internal clean up, transport, administration or tasks that require specialist skills. However emergency preparedness and recovery can last weeks, months or years and volunteers may be needed in the long term to assist with a variety of tasks such as building and environment restoration activities, or supporting community service organisations experiencing an increase in demand for services.

Your details from this expression of interest will be sent directly to agencies that require volunteers.

Please note: All agencies will do their best to ensure that volunteers will operate in a safe environment, however all volunteers need to understand that they will be operating in a declared emergency situation.

Requirements

THIS IS A REGISTRATION OF INTEREST IN SPONTANEOUS EMERGENCY & RECOVERY VOLUNTEERING.

Please list your skills and availability for the next 3 months in the form and if you have a current police check, along with your postcode and location that you are able to assist ie. Berri, Renmark, or other River Murray communities.

You may or may not be contacted to take part in a volunteer activity for these disasters. We appreciate your offers of help during these times, while we await advice from agencies on their needs and the needs of the communities affected.

Please Note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance).
