The program

Red Cross has been responding to emergencies and providing humanitarian assistance in Australia since 1914. We are committed to strengthening and extending our emergency aid services to assist people in Australia prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

The opportunity

Emergency Services volunteers play an important role in supporting individuals, groups and communities in the Northern Territory better prepare for emergencies through engaging and educational preparedness programs. In the event of an emergency, volunteers provide psychosocial support to affected people, and support the operational management of Red Cross' response activities. Volunteers are required to be over 18 and prepared to attend ongoing training to develop skills and knowledge.

The impact

As an Emergency Services volunteer, you will help people to be better prepared, better connected to each other, and more resilient when emergencies happen. We work with communities before, during and after emergencies to help reduce vulnerability, ensure immediate needs are met, and provide effective humanitarian support. Red Cross will ensure you have the training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
