Types of Volunteering
We advertise hundreds of positions on behalf of organisations every week. Think about what kind of work you would like to do, based on what skills you have and the causes that you are passionate about. You may consider aged care, arts, community and welfare, education, environment, multicultural or youth - just to name a few.
Spontaneous Emergency Volunteering
Our communities rely on skilled volunteers to assist in emergencies (floods, bushfires, cyclones and vehicle accidents). In South Australia, volunteers make up the majority of personnel serving in the SA Country Fire Service, the State Emergency Service and St John Ambulance. In the Northern Territory, volunteers are similarly vital for Bushfires NT, the NT Emergency Services and St John Ambulance.
In an emergency, Volunteering SA&NT manages the authorised registration of people who wish to volunteer to help in the community. Notices are always posted through media and social media when this occurs. If you wish to volunteer in any of these services at other times, please click on the red button above to find volunteering positions.
