Emergency Volunteers for Emergency Responses (VNT-EVER)
When natural disasters strike, volunteers are crucial in helping out in their communities. Volunteering NT’s Emergency Volunteers for Emergency Response (VNT-EVER) program invites Darwin residents to pre-register to help out community organisations in emergencies.
The Darwin Community is known to step up to help others and respond to threats at the time of an emergency or natural disaster. Emergency Volunteers are often available, but ill-equipped to be easily deployed into the Relief and Recovery Agencies and Emergency Management Agencies, where help is most needed.
To develop the skills of Emergency Volunteers, we are working with the Northern Territory Department of the Chief Minister, with the assistance of funding through the NT Disaster Resilience Emergency Volunteer Fund.
Our role is to help volunteers meet essential criteria that is required from organisations working in the field at the time of a disaster. We can also support organisations that may need extra help during disaster preparedness and recovery providing skilled and certified volunteers that require minimal induction.
VNT-EVER volunteers will have the capabilities to support the surge of workload within organisations by providing additional people power.
