Volunteerability is a new and exciting three year program partnered by Orana Australia, Volunteering SA&NT, Southern Volunteering SA and Northern Volunteering SA. It aims to create more inclusive communities for people with disability in South Australia through volunteering.
Recognising the value of volunteers in society, and their engagement in meaningful roles, Volunteerability will provide support and tools for people with disability and volunteer involving organisations.
A volunteer buddy will be matched with a person with disability to support them through the various stages of volunteering; from completing the initial documents, navigating processes and commencing in the volunteer role.
The program will provide:
- Free Disability Awareness sessions for volunteers and organisations
- Resources and toolkits to promote inclusion and disability awareness
- Support to volunteer involving organisations to develop more inclusive practices in their approach to recruiting and retaining volunteers with disability
- One on one assistance for people with disability to start volunteering with a volunteer buddy
Volunteering SA&NT is looking for people who are passionate about community inclusion and volunteering and would like to join the Volunteerability team by being a volunteer buddy.
Free 2.5 hour sessions, including a light lunch, providing tools, resources and activities to provide the confidence and skills everyone needs to create a more inclusive community. Including history, definitions, types of disabilities, attitudes, bias, inclusion, overcoming barriers and workshopping scenarios.
